Mr. Mueller is currently a police officer with a Sussex County municipality police department. During his tenure, he has investigated hundreds of accidents. He has reconstructed and/or assisted in numerous accident investigations involving serious or fatal injuries. Ray is a team leader for the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Offices Crash Analysis and Reconstruction Team and has been a member since the team’s inception in 1990. He also performs all of the comprehensive post-collision mechanical inspections for the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office. Mr. Mueller has a diploma in Automotive and Diesel Technology from Lincoln Technical Institute.
Mr. Mueller has had extensive training in accident reconstruction through Northwestern University and The Institute for Police Technology and Management. He has also received advanced training in railroad crossing accident investigation and work zone safety requirements through the Morris County Police Academy.
Prior to becoming a police officer, Mr. Mueller enjoyed a successful 15-year career as an automobile and truck technician. He has been certified through the Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (A.S.E.) since 1981, achieving certificates in the following automobile areas: engine repair, manual drive train and axles, suspension and steering, brake systems, electrical/electronic systems, heating and air conditioning and engine performance. He has also achieved A.S.E. certificates in the following medium/heavy truck areas: gasoline engines, diesel engines, drive train, brake systems and electrical/electronic systems. Additional training in automotive technology includes advanced on-board electrical systems, ignition systems, air/fuel systems, on-board computer systems, Ford microprocessor and electronic engine control systems, Bendix computerized air brake and traction control systems for large trucks, and welding.
Ray has reconstructed and/or assisted in numerous traffic accident cases for John Desch Associates and has been an integral part of the motor vehicle mechanical analysis and defect assessment team here at JDA. He is currently completing his accreditation requirements in order to be a fully accredited Accident Reconstructionist by ACTAR.
