Prior to becoming a police officer, Mr. Weber enjoyed a successful career as an automobile technician. He became certified as a Master Automobile Technician through the Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) in 1986. Since that time, he has been re-certified as a Master Automobile Technician, and has an advanced level certification as an Advanced Engine Performance Specialist. He also has certifications from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence in heavy-duty truck suspension, steering, brakes and drive trains. Additional training in automotive technology includes advanced computer control systems, electronic fuel injection, anti-lock braking systems, air bag systems, refrigeration recovery and electronic engine analyzer training. He has been licensed as a New York State motor vehicle inspector. Additional truck training includes medium and heavy-duty air brake systems and commercial motor vehicle enforcement training through the Passaic County Police Academy.
Achieving his full accident reconstruction accreditation by ACTAR in 1999, Ed has reconstructed and/or assisted in numerous traffic accident cases for John Desch Associates as well as the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office and his own agency. He has conducted research in the area of braking and sudden acceleration. Mr. Weber has also lectured at various conferences and seminars around the United States and is recognized as an expert in his field. He has qualified as an expert in automobile mechanics and accident reconstruction in New Jersey Superior Court, Municipal Court and New Jersey Motor Vehicles Administrative Court.
